East Asian Cinema
Shinjuku Incident/ San suk si gin (2009).

Shinjuku Incident was a fresh and innovative film, and its no wonder it was banned in China. But thats for later. The main reason for it being so fresh was that it was a completely new role for its main character Jackie Chan. Never before has Chan acted in such a raw role. The interesting aspect about Chan’s career is that it has two sides to it, the Hollywood ‘Rush Hour’ side and the Asian side, and both of these are very different, in Hollywood films he acts as the comedic side kick, whereas in Asian cinema Chan consistantly plays the main character. This applies to this film.
The main thing that i enjoyed about this film was the relationship between the different nationalities. This is such a true indication of what the feeling is between these people. The Taiwanese have at seperate points in time been invaded by both the Japanese and the Chinese, also the Japanese and Chinese have never enjoyed common ground.
